Privacy Policy
Kinduty helps families coordinate care for someone they love. That means you trust us with personal information about your family, sometimes including details about a person's health. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your information to run Kinduty for your family, we never sell it, and we never send the details of your family's care to advertisers.
Kinduty is operated by Blackhorse Capital LLC ("Kinduty," "we," "us"), which also publishes the Kinduty app on Google Play. Questions: privacy@kin-duty.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and the avatar you choose.
- Care team content: care team names, tasks, appointments (dates, locations, notes), medication lists (names, doses, schedules, prescribers, pharmacies, and refill dates), comments and updates, and anything else you or your family members add. Some of this may describe the health or needs of the person you care for.
- Invitations: the email addresses of people you invite.
- Phone number, if you choose to receive text reminders, and your text-message preferences.
- Messages you send us, such as support requests.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, and actions taken in Kinduty (for example, "task completed"), used to run, secure, and improve the service.
- Notification details: if you turn on phone or computer notifications, a device token from your browser's notification service so we can deliver them.
- Error reports: technical details when something breaks (error type, the page it happened on, and your account ID). These never include the content of your tasks, appointments, or notes.
- How you found us: if you arrive from an ad or a campaign link, the campaign details in that link (for example, utm_source or a Facebook click ID), stored with your account so we can tell which campaigns work.
- Cookies and similar technologies: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in, a cookie that remembers your privacy choice, and, on our website and app, the Meta Pixel (see Advertising measurement).
Information from others
- Family members can add information about you or the person you care for, or invite you by email.
- Our payment processor, Stripe, tells us whether a subscription is active. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use information
- To provide Kinduty: create accounts and care teams, show your family's tasks and appointments, and send the reminders and notifications you've chosen (email, text, or push).
- To process payments and manage your family plan.
- To keep Kinduty secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To understand how Kinduty is used and improve it.
- To measure which of our ads and campaigns bring new families to Kinduty (see below).
- To communicate with you about your account, security, and changes to Kinduty.
- To comply with the law.
Your family's care information
Tasks, appointments, notes, and other care team content are visible only to the members of that care team. We use this content only to provide Kinduty to your family. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Reminder emails, texts, and notifications include only what's needed (such as a task or appointment title and a link), never appointment notes.
We keep medication names out of places others might see: reminder email subject lines, text messages, and phone or computer notifications say "medication refill" instead, and name the medicine only inside the email itself.
Kinduty is a coordination tool for families. It is not a healthcare provider, and it is not covered by HIPAA. If you live in a state with a consumer health data law (such as Washington or Nevada), see Consumer health data below.
How we share information
- With your care team. Everything in a care team is shared with its members. Your name and avatar are visible to people in care teams you belong to.
- With service providers who help us run Kinduty, only as needed to provide their service and under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Hosting and infrastructure (Cloudflare, Railway)
- Email delivery (Resend)
- Text messages (Twilio)
- Payments (Stripe)
- Push notifications (your browser's push service, such as Google, Apple, Mozilla, or Microsoft)
- Error monitoring (Sentry), if enabled
- For advertising measurement with Meta, as described below.
- For legal reasons, if we believe it's required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Kinduty.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
Advertising measurement (Meta Pixel and Conversions API)
We advertise Kinduty on Facebook and Instagram. To learn which ads work, our website and app use the Meta Pixel, and our servers send Meta a small set of events: that someone signed up, started a trial, invited a family member, or subscribed. For these events we may share a hashed (scrambled) version of your email address and account ID, your browser's Meta cookie identifiers, IP address, and browser type. We never send Meta the names of your care team, tasks, appointments, notes, medications, or any health information.
In the app, the Meta Pixel records only that a page loaded and the events listed above. It never loads on medication pages, and we turn off Meta's automatic event collection, so it can't read button text or other content on the page.
Under California law, this kind of sharing for advertising may count as "sharing" personal information. You can opt out at any time:
- Select "Do not sell or share my personal information" at the bottom of our website, or
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We honor it automatically on our website, in the app, and on our servers.
When you opt out, we stop loading the Meta Pixel for you and stop sending server events about you.
Text messages
Text reminders are optional. They're off until you verify your phone number and turn them on. By turning them on, you agree to receive recurring automated care reminder texts from Kinduty. Message frequency varies with your family's tasks and appointments. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, START to resume, or HELP for help. We don't share your phone number or text opt-in with third parties for their marketing, and consent to texts is never a condition of using Kinduty.
Your choices
- Notifications: choose email, text, or push for each kind of reminder in Family settings → Notification settings.
- Download your data: any member can download everything in a care team from Family settings → Download everything.
- Delete your account: Account settings → Delete account. We remove your sign-in details, email, phone number, notification devices, and campaign information. Shared care history your family created stays with the care team, with your name replaced by "Deleted member." Care teams where you are the only member are deleted. Steps, including how to ask by email if you can't sign in, are on Delete your account.
- Archive a care team: the coordinator can archive a care team when care ends; it becomes read-only and stops sending reminders.
- Advertising: opt out as described above.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information or of targeted advertising. We won't discriminate against you for using these rights. To make a request, email privacy@kin-duty.com from the address on your account. We'll verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask them for proof that you authorized them.
Consumer health data
Some information in Kinduty, such as appointments, medications, or notes about someone's condition, may be "consumer health data" under laws like Washington's My Health My Data Act. We collect it only to provide Kinduty to your care team, as you direct. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed above who help us run Kinduty. You can access, download, or delete it as described above, or by contacting us. You can withdraw consent by deleting the content or your account.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide Kinduty. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information as described above, except where we need to keep some of it to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or keep records of payments. Backups are overwritten on a regular schedule.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), store passwords only as secure hashes, store sign-in and invitation tokens only in hashed form, limit who can access production systems, and keep each care team's information visible only to its members. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
Children
Kinduty is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and let you know by email or in Kinduty before the changes take effect.
